What is a protection dog?
A protection dog is a professionally trained dog capable of protecting its handler or family when faced with a genuine threat. Just as importantly, it should be calm, obedient and safe in everyday life. A true protection dog spends far more time being a trusted family companion than performing protection work.
What is the difference between a family protection dog and a personal protection dog?
A family protection dog is selected and trained to live safely within a family environment whilst providing an additional layer of security should it ever be needed.
A personal protection dog is trained with a greater emphasis on protecting an individual, often for business owners, high-profile individuals or those facing an elevated personal risk.
Are protection dogs safe around children?
Yes, when properly selected, trained and managed. Temperament is our highest priority. We only work with dogs that demonstrate stability, clear thinking and reliability. Every placement is carefully matched to the individual household, and we will only place a dog where we believe it is appropriate to do so.
Can any dog become a protection dog?
No.
The vast majority of dogs simply do not possess the temperament, nerve, confidence or drives required. Protection work is not something that can be taught to every dog.
Selecting the right dog is every bit as important as the training itself.
What breeds do you work with?
We work primarily with breeds and bloodlines proven in working roles, including German Shepherd Dogs, Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds, together with carefully selected crosses where appropriate.
Ultimately, we select the dog that best matches the client’s needs rather than recommending a breed simply because it is fashionable.
How much does a protection dog cost?
Every dog is individually priced based on its age, breeding, level of training and intended role.
Professionally developed protection dogs represent a significant investment due to the time, expertise and ongoing development involved.

Can I choose my own dog?
Where possible, yes.
Some clients purchase dogs already in development, whilst others commission a dog to be sourced and trained specifically for them.
We will always advise honestly if we believe another dog would be a better match for your circumstances.
How long does it take to train a protection dog?
Developing a reliable protection dog takes many months and often several years.
We never rush the process.
Producing a dog that is calm, obedient and dependable is far more important than simply teaching bite work.
Do you train the new owner?
Absolutely.
Every protection dog is supplied with handler training to ensure you understand your dog’s commands, routines and ongoing maintenance.
The dog is only one half of the partnership.
Will I receive ongoing support?
Yes.
Our relationship does not end at handover.
We provide ongoing advice and support to help maintain your dog’s training throughout its life.
Can I buy a protection dog if I’ve never owned one before?
Possibly.
Previous experience is helpful but not essential.
Every applicant is assessed individually and, where appropriate, we provide additional handler training to ensure you feel confident working with your dog.
Do you train clients’ existing dogs for protection work?
Sometimes.
Your dog must first undergo a detailed assessment.
If we believe your dog possesses the correct temperament, drives and suitability, we can discuss a bespoke training programme.
If we believe protection training would be inappropriate, we will explain why and recommend alternative options.
Can I visit and meet the dogs?
Yes.
Suitable applicants are invited to meet us and, where appropriate, meet available dogs.
For security and welfare reasons, we do not operate as an open kennel and visits are by appointment only.
Why don’t you list all your available dogs online?
Not every dog is publicly advertised.
Some dogs are reserved before completion, whilst others are developed for specific clients.
In addition, we value the privacy and security of both our clients and our dogs.
Why do you have an application process?
A protection dog is not an impulse purchase.
Our application process helps ensure every dog is matched to the right person, the right family and the right lifestyle.
It also allows us to understand exactly what you’re looking for and advise whether a protection dog is the right solution.
We reserve the right to decline applications where we believe a placement would not be suitable.
