Who are Archer K9?
Archer K9 is a professional dog training company based in East Yorkshire, providing training for pet dogs, working dogs, assistance dogs and protection dogs. We work with everyone from first-time puppy owners to experienced handlers, as well as police, prison and security organisations.
What makes Archer K9 different?
We focus on real-world results. Rather than training dogs only in controlled environments, we prepare them for everyday life. Busy streets, cafés, shopping centres, public transport and other real-life distractions all form part of our training.
What training methods do you use?
We use balanced training methods. Every dog is different, so we select the safest and most effective approach for that individual rather than following a single ideology. Our goal is to produce confident, reliable dogs while maintaining high welfare standards.
Do you only work with difficult dogs?
Not at all. We train everything from young puppies learning the basics to advanced obedience, assistance dogs, behavioural rehabilitation, protection dogs and competition dogs.
Do you use treats?
Yes. We use food, toys, praise and play extensively throughout our training. Rewards are an important part of teaching dogs. We simply believe they are one of many training tools, not the only one.
What breeds do you work with?
All breeds are welcome. We regularly work with Labradors, Spaniels, German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Cane Corsos, Rottweilers, Cockapoos, French Bulldogs, Staffordshire Bull Terriers and many crossbreeds.
Where does training take place?
Training can take place at our headquarters, in your home, or at carefully selected public locations depending on your goals. We regularly train in busy towns and cities to prepare dogs for real-life situations.
Do you offer group classes?
Yes. We run a variety of group classes covering obedience, puppy training, street obedience and advanced training. These provide valuable controlled distractions alongside professional instruction.
Do you offer one-to-one training?
Yes. One-to-one sessions allow us to tailor every lesson specifically to you and your dog. They are ideal for behavioural problems, advanced training or owners who want faster progress.
Can you help with reactive or aggressive dogs?
Yes. Behavioural cases are one of our specialist areas. Every dog is first assessed so we can develop a safe, structured training plan suited to their individual needs.
Can older dogs still be trained?
Absolutely. Dogs of almost any age can learn new behaviours. While puppies often learn more quickly, older dogs can make excellent progress with the right training.
How long does training take?
Every dog is different. Some owners see significant improvements after a single session, while more complex behavioural cases require a structured programme over several weeks or months.
Do you offer residential training?
Yes. We offer residential training for suitable dogs. This allows us to build solid foundations before transferring the training back to the owner through structured handover sessions.
Do you sell protection dogs?
Yes. We source, train and supply carefully selected family protection dogs. Every placement is tailored to the client’s lifestyle, experience and security requirements.
Do you train assistance dogs?
Yes. We offer assistance dog training, public access preparation and assessments through our Archer K9 Assistance Dog Standards programme.
