Advanced Obedience Classes

Take your dog’s training beyond the basics.

Our Advanced Obedience Classes are designed for handlers who want exceptional control in real-world environments. Whether your goal is a reliable family companion, an assistance dog, a working dog, or simply a dog that can go anywhere with confidence, these sessions are built around high-level obedience under genuine distraction.

Unlike many training clubs where dogs work one at a time, every dog trains together. This creates constant distractions from other dogs, people and movement, helping your dog learn to focus on you when it matters most.

Invite Only

Our Advanced Obedience Class is available by invitation only.

This ensures every dog in the group has the appropriate foundation skills, temperament and level of control, allowing the class to remain safe, productive and enjoyable for everyone.

To receive an invitation, you should first attend either:

One or more 1 to 1 training sessions
One of our regular group classes

This gives us the opportunity to get to know both you and your dog, assess your current level, and ensure you’re ready to benefit from advanced training.

If you’re unsure whether your dog is ready, we’re happy to advise on the best route to get you there.

What You’ll Learn

Every exercise is designed to produce reliable behaviour outside of the training field, not just during class.

Train Under Real Distraction

Distraction is where most dogs fail.

Rather than hiding from distractions, we deliberately incorporate them into training. Dogs learn to work around:

Multiple dogs training nearby
Running and moving people
Food distractions
Toys
Environmental noises
Everyday public scenarios

This produces dogs that remain calm, focused and responsive regardless of what’s happening around them.

Balanced, Fair Training

At Archer K9, we believe dogs learn best through clear communication, consistency and fair training.

Every dog is different, so we tailor our approach to suit the individual dog and handler. Our focus is on building understanding, reliability and confidence rather than simply teaching commands.

Using balanced training principles, we help dogs develop dependable obedience that transfers into everyday life, whether that’s walking through a busy town centre, working around livestock, or maintaining focus despite major distractions.

The aim is a dog that understands what is expected, enjoys working with its handler, and can perform reliably in the real world.

Small Group Environment

To maintain a high standard of coaching, class sizes are kept small.

Every handler receives individual guidance while benefiting from the distractions created by other dogs working at the same time. This creates an ideal learning environment where dogs are constantly practising around real-life distractions rather than waiting their turn.

What You Need

Please bring:

A standard lead
A suitable training collar or equipment recommended by your instructor
High-value food rewards
A favourite toy if your dog enjoys toy rewards
Water for your dog

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing, as training continues in most weather conditions.
